Enterotoxin is a bacterial disease that affects sheep, goats, cows, buffaloes and horses

The infection of the disease leads to significant economic losses and usually the disease takes the acute and super-acute form

Pathogenicity

Clostridium perfringens is an anaerobic bacterium and takes multiple serotypes A, B,C, D, E, N which secretes dangerous types of toxins that cause intestinal poisoning

Infection

The bacteria that cause the disease are present in the soil, fresh water and marine sediments, and these bacteria are also found in the intestines of animals naturally and in small numbers and do not cause any symptoms for animals when there is a weakening of the animal’s immunity for various reasons, irregular feeding, climate change and stress

Symptoms

The picture of acute and superacute disease is more common, especially in small animals, and its symptoms are high fever with abdominal pain and bloating, saliva from the mouth, tears of the eyes, difficulty breathing, and the animal dies within 12-24 hours of the onset of symptoms

Treatment of the disease

.In acute and super-acute cases, treatment is not possible after the onset of symptoms, because sudden death occurs

As for non-acute cases, antibiotics can be used to reduce the number of bacteria inside the intestine, which reduces the excretion of toxins, antibiotics are given either by mouth or shoulder, especially the Penicillium group, such as anti-penicillin, candamycin,  TRICYCLINE, and it is necessary to use anti-inflammatory drugs such as DEXA MTHASONE and PHENY IARTHRITE, and it is necessary to avoid giving animals concentrated leeches and content with green leeches and easily digestible leeches

Prevention

  1. Isolation of infected animals
  2. Not to leave newly purchased animals with old ones
  3. Vaccination of animals with enterotoxin vaccine subcutaneously as a first dose and is repeated after(3) weeks and the vaccine is repeated every six months, as for young animals (lambs) are vaccinated a month or more after birth
